Conversation Types
Coral talks with students through roleplay scenarios, oral exams, vid tickets, and a 24/7 course-aware teaching assistant. There are four conversation types:
Oral Exams
Oral exams measure understanding through conversation.
Students explain ideas out loud, answer follow-up questions, and show how they think — not just what they can memorize.
There are three types you can choose from:
-
Same questions for everyone.
✕ Student does not upload a written component
✓ Graded or participatory
✓ Included in all plan types
-
Students are asked completely unique questions. Great for reflection assignments.

-
Students are asked some of the same questions, plus personalized ones based on their written component.

Roleplay
Practice real-world scenarios through conversation.
Coral plays a role and speaks with your students in realistic scenarios. You choose the setup — for example, a student pitches a startup while Coral plays a San Francisco–based investor.
Students practice in a low-pressure environment, receive instant feedback, and can be scored on how well they met the learning objectives you set.

Case Study
Turn any case into a live assessment.
Upload the case, article, dataset, or reading you already assign. Coral builds the assessment around it and runs it as either a proctored oral exam or a roleplay scenario. The case stays in context for the whole session, so every follow-up question comes from the material itself. If a student makes a claim the case does not support, Coral notices and probes.
Students are assessed on how they reason through the material, not on whether they can recall it. You set the learning objectives, Coral scores against them and returns instant feedback.

VidTickets
VidTickets turn learning into visible thinking through video conversation.n.
Teachers ask one focused question. Students record their response out loud. Once they submit, they unlock their classmates’ answers and can watch, compare perspectives, and leave thoughtful comments.
It’s like Flipgrid, but deeper.
Structured prompts. Immediate personalized AI feedback. Peer feedback built in.
Students don’t just post a video.
They engage in dialogue.
They see how others think.
They refine their own ideas.
Vid Tickets make participation active, social, and meaningful — not just another assignment.
